About me

growing up italian
My family after Italy won the 2006 World Cup
My name is Frank DeChellis.  I was born in and live in Welland, Ontario, Canada.

I am 49 years old, slowly gathering credits for my degree in General Studies in Humanities at Brock University.  I intend to minor in French and should be done by Christmas 2016.

I graduated from Brock's Faculty of Education in 2011 in Technological Education and from Mohawk College in 1987.  I have been teaching at Niagara College, off and on, since 1992.  I also deliver coaching education for The Ontario Soccer Association and serve as an occasional Teacher for the Niagara Catholic District School Board.

I have never been away from a classroom setting of some kind since kindergarten.

I started this blog as my commitment to my course WRIT3P15 at Brock.  It's a topic I am passionate about and that passion was fuelled by subjects discussed in GEOG1F90 in Spring 2015.

In support of the theme of this blog, my parents moved to Canada from Italy, but I was born here. My father was born in Pacentro, AQ and my mother in Fossa, AQ.  Both towns are lovely but my mothers has been abandoned since the earthquake of April 6, 2009.  I have been to Italy a number of times and our family has come to visit here.  it's like my wife said over Christmas "It's not unusual to be in the same room with them, is it?"

Soccer is a passion of mine and I have another blog at http://coachingsoccer.ca .
